The Dauphin

Top Answer:

The dauphin is an older man that Huck and Jim meet along their journey.  He is about seventy years old, a con man, who had been run out of town for running a fake religious revival group when he meets Huck and Jim.  He tells Huck and Jim that he is the son of Louis XVI.  The dauphin is selfish and conniving, putting his own greed above everything else.  Despite everything Huck and Jim do for him, he sells Jim as a runaway slave near the end of the novel.
