Calculus

TOPIC DESCRIPTION:

This branch of mathematics is concerned with limits, functions, derivatives, integrals and infinite series. Calculus broadens in scope from earlier disciplines, considering the nature of expressions and functions at both the instantaneous, infinitesimal scale and on the infinite scale. Much of calculus is concerned with the change in functions or the changes in the net values measured by functions. These are calculated and analyzed via differential calculus and integral calculus, respectively. Differential and integral calculus are the two main branches of calculus, related via the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, and deal with essentially opposite operations and analyses.
