TOPIC DESCRIPTION:

Science is a system for logically building knowledge by progressively testing rational predictions about the universe. These predictions are based on direct observations, the underlying nature of which are theorized in scientific models. Experiments are used to test the models' predictions and determine whether the model should be accepted or rejected outright. No model is bulletproof; as experimental techniques and scientific understanding improve, accepted models may be replaced by better, fuller explanations of observable phenomena.
